The NDTA is a world-wide competition, and the next level following USAREUR level is the national competition at Headquarters, Department of the Army. We are the Washington D.C. Chapter of the National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA).
Since World War II, NDTA has served our country’s national defense and homeland security as a trusted environment where government, military, and private sector professionals can solve pressing challenges in the fields of logistics, transportation, and passenger travel services.
NDTA is a non-political, non-profit educational organization. Our three priorities are to:
Maintain that “trusted environment” by facilitating strong working relationships, education, and the exchange of ideas
Invest in programs and capabilities that provide value to our corporate and individual members, and help develop the next generation of professionals
Serve the broader national security interest through a new focus on all government stakeholders in logistics, transportation, and passenger travel
We have a rich history, dating back to 1944. In that time, NDTA has established a great track record of service; including real-world disaster relief through partnerships with organizations like American Red Cross, the creation of transportation studies and white papers, the development of emergency management plans, and exercises in cooperation with the military.
The D.C. Chapter is made up of a volunteer board and members from the military, government and industry in D.C. metro area. We host a variety of professional development, educational and social events for transportation, logistics and travel professionals supporting the defense and security of our nation. We also award academic scholarships for current graduate and undergraduate students pursuing a career in transportation, logistics or travel.
An educational program that we are particularly proud of is the Mentor Protégé Program. The program brings together senior leaders in government and industry (mentors) and early-to-midcareer individuals (protégés) to share lessons learned, build connections, and discuss career options.

Mentor Protégé Program
To promote professional and leadership development within the Defense transportation and logistics community, the Washington DC Chapter of NDTA created a dynamic program that brings together senior leaders wishing to give back to the community with early- and midcareer individuals seeking to further their professional growth. The Program was established in 2003 and was named after LTG Edward Honor, US Army, as a tribute to his endless dedication to growing and nurturing the future leadership of the Defense transportation and logistics community.
The program will kick back up in Fall 2019. Sessions include speeches from government and industry leaders on ways to enhance your career. If you are interested in attending a session, as either a mentor or protégé, or even just a spectator, please contact us at NDTADCINFO@GMAIL.COM.

Monthly Luncheons
The NDTA DC Chapter hosts monthly luncheons featuring key note speakers who are senior leaders in government and military transportation, logistics, and travel. Luncheons are open to both members and non-members. They offer an excellent opportunity for networking and staying abreast of the latest developments in defense transportation, logistics, travel and related topics.
